About Gabriel Aubry

Aubry comes from kart racing and he was a member of the FFSA Equipe de France. He made a successful transition to single-seaters finishing third in the French F4 Championship. At the end of 2015 he joined Tech 1 Racing to compete in the Eurocup Formule Renault and in selected rounds of the NEC Championship. After a learning year in which he scored eight top-10 finishes Aubry and Tech 1 Racing have decided to pursue their collaboration.

“I’m very happy to be staying with Tech 1 Racing,” says a delighted Aubry. “Together we’re kicking off the year on the bases we laid down in 2016 so it’s a question of continuity and real confidence to get the very best out of our relationship. The whole team is determined to succeed next year to show that the foundations are solid. I’d also like to thank Van Merksteijn, MEP, DMA Armature and 4Race who have helped me to pursue this adventure.

“We’ve done a lot of work on confidence building while making some adjustments and examining some details that are decisive in terms of performance,” says the driver who was on the rookie podium in Monaco, at Monza, Paul Ricard and Spa-Francorchamps. “All this winter preparation has had only a single aim: to assume the role of team leader and do a good job right from the start of the season if we want to compete for the title. The objective’s clear – victory! Any other result would be disappointing and below my objectives.

“Last year I was racing with guys I’ve known for a long time,” summed up Aubry as he talked about his new team-mates. “This time I’ll be with Thomas Neubauer, Thomas Maxwell and Max Fewtrell. They’re all good drivers and some of them have put on good performances in karts as they were among the top three leaders on the international scene. I think that Maxwell and Fewtrell will soon be on the pace to contest the rookie title."

“We’re delighted to continue with Gabi,” summed up Simon Abadie, the Tech 1 Racing team manager. “He’s a key element in our team. We know how quick he is. We didn’t achieve the results we’d expected last season, but we talked about it together and we understood why it turned out the way it did. This is why we’ve renewed our confidence in each other. We know we’ll achieve great things together and winter testing has confirmed our choice.”
